UPDATE (March 7,Western Archives 2017, 10:40 A.M. ET):It seems Comey has his hands full, what with all hell breaking loose in the White House with wire-tapping allegations and Russia, so he's canceled his scheduled appearance at SXSW citing "scheduling conflicts." Appearing in his stead will be FBI General Counsel James Baker who will also probably narc on your fun.
Our original story continues below.
If you've had the year FBI Director James Comey has had, it totally makes sense that you might want to go spend some time in the Texas sun, rubbing elbows with celebrity hipsters and frequenting food trucks.
So Comey is taking his talents to the 2017 incarnation of the SXSW festival in March.
SEE ALSO: The FBI wants you to know hacking is bad, fellow kidsThe SXSW conference appearance will likely be less controversial than his role in the 2016 election as he'll simply sit down for a chat on March 13 with Newseum CEO Jeffrey Herbst to talk about national security.
And, presumably, to narc on all the cool kids smoking weed at the hippest music sets.
According to a press release from the festival, Herbst said the interview will be "a unique conversation examining the tensions between privacy and national security."
Comey is not the first high-level government official to appear at SXSW. Both then-President Barack Obama and then-First Lady Michelle Obama gave keynotes at the 2016 edition of the festival.
Comey has had quite a year, being wrapped up in an investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server in the run up to the 2016 presidential election. In the week before Election Day he suddenly reopened the case and just as suddenly declared, "Whoops, my bad, nothing to see here."
If that's not enough, Comey had to watch new President Donald Trump claim he trusts WikiLeaks more than his own intelligence agencies and then, literally, shake Trump's hand as he had his job re-upped.
