Using a news magazine cover to make a statement about president Donald Trump is Married Women: Men Who Taste Better Than Their Husbandssomething of a cottage industry these days, but that didn't stop Timeand The Economistfrom dropping more covers directed at the 45th president.

The animated version, posted by the magazine on Twitter, gets off to a strange start with Trump looking into an empty mirror -- will it reveal Trump to be a vampire? -- before the final image forms and, yep, that makes sense.
The cover story written by Molly Ball and Tessa Berenson explores how Trump and his associates have waged a war of words to discredit Mueller, borrowing a page from Bill Clinton's late 1990s playbook. But, like all things Trump, his team's cranked it up to a dangerous degree, Ball and Berenson explain.
PreviousTimemagazine covers of Trump have:
portrayed his stormy first months in the White House in a cover that got a sequel a year later;
reimagined the White House in the style of iconic Russian architecture;
portrayed Trump as a series of angry wrecking balls;
used a fiery cartoon portrait of Trump to mark his first year in office.
But Timeisn't the only magazine taking aim at Trump this week. The Economist, which has its own share of previous Trump-inspired covers, one-upped Time's wrecking ball metaphor with art that channels Miley Cyrus for its latest cover story, focusing on Trump's diplomacy (or lack thereof) with North Korea and the ripple effect that has.

Neither of these publications are alone in portraying Trump through cover art. The New Yorkerhas taken its fair share of cover shots at Trump. And if you think those are harsh, you should see what European mags have to say about him.
The irony is that Trump so badly wants a Timecover of his own -- no matter what he says -- that he has an infamous fake magazine cover on display at several of his golf courses.
And, thus, the news cycle churns and repeats ad infinitum, even on the cover of a magazine.
