According to a press release from Max, episode 5 will get an early streaming premiere at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 9, ahead of its HBO premiere at the usual time of 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Friday streaming drop takes Night Country out of direct competition with the Super Bowl — and gives us two extra days to work on our fan theories about what happened to the Tsalal scientists.
HBO pulled a similar move last year with an episode of The Last of Usthat coincided with the Super Bowl. However, the series returned to its regularly scheduled airtime in the following weeks, and Max has confirmed in a press release that the Night Country finale will air on Sunday, Feb. 18.
True Detective: Night Country episode 5 is streaming on Max Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET.
