The Watch Cheating Husband Movies Onlineofficial line of Baby Yoda merch has landed and it's sporting a midichlorian count waylower than expected.
Disney's adorable, highly marketable new answer to the porg should have been a no-brainer for the merch of live-action Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian. But the first release of official, highly anticipated paraphernalia related to a teeny mystery figure known as The Child (but to us, Baby Yoda) is getting some negative feedback online.
The official collection arrived in Disney's online storeon Tuesday, and fans are taking issue with the apparent lack of effort of it all, with t-shirts, mugs, iPhone cases, and totes sporting nothing more than a basic printed transfer of the original concept art.

Amazing art, right? Well, apparently Disney thought slapping it on a tee as-is was good enough.
Tees range from $16.95 to $24.95, with tumblers and mugs at $14.95, and iPhone cases at $44.95, and refer only to their featured character as The Child on the product pages.
The designs don't get much more creative than a square or cut-out transfer print of the official image and the name of the show. That might be fine for some, but folks on Twitter ain't happy, flooding the social platform with negative reviews with all the fervour of a Dagobah wet season (that's probablyyour soggy future home FYI, Baby Yoda).

If this merchandise looks it's from Zazzle, well, it actually kinda is. Clicking through to each product reveals a pop-up from Zazzle, the online marketplace that allows anyone to create their own product, and which has a partnership with Disney.
In fact, if you hit "customise" on a product page, you can actually make the t-shirts even worse by moving around the concept art and even adding your own text. Why Disney would allow you to do this with their own merchandise is beyond me.
Of course, the inevitable beginnings of memery began rolling out on Twitter.

You'll notice there's no plush Baby Yoda in the store yet, which is the stocking stuffer of our dreams, but CNBC reports that more merch is coming to the Disney Store, ShopDisney and Disney Parks before the holidays.
Importantly, the episode featuring our little green pal only hit Disney's new streaming service recently, and Disney's holding back of the entire range of merchandise is essentially a means to prevent spoilers for The Mandalorianin general, as director Jon Favreau told E!.
"I have to thank Disney and Lucasfilm, because the way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogs and things like that. So they really backed us up," said Favreau.
"That requires a lot of restraint from the people who are footing the bill, saying they’re gonna hold back on certain things so that the public doesn’t know ahead of time," he added. "And part of that was holding back on some of the merchandising and holding back on some of the characters."
SEE ALSO: The unofficial Baby Yoda gear you absolutely must haveEven so, this first Baby Yoda-themed release feels somewhat rushed and a way to cash in without consideration. Here's hoping the second round takes things up a notch. Until then, there's always plenty of unofficial merch on Etsy and other sites that we're stocking up on. Yes, there are plushies.
