It sounds almost made up,the disabled debauchee eroticism but it's true. Australia's oldest living former leader is also a world-class beer-chugger.
An ex-prime minister, Bob Hawke downs 'em in one go wherever he finds them. On the jumbotron, in the pub and among admiring fans. The man loves beer. It seems only logical that he'd eventually create his own.

And thus, Hawke's Lager was born.
"I'm not making anything out of this, all of my share is going to (environmental movement) Landcare," he told the publication.

"I set up Landcare when I was prime minister and it was great work and I thought it was an appropriate repository for my share of the profits. I hope the efforts of this company will not only bring good friends together over a cold beer but also help raise awareness of the great work done by Landcare." Aww, stop Mr. Prime Minister!
Australian expats Nathan Lennon and David Gibson thought up the idea when the New York-based creative directors realised Bob Hawke was the dude they'd both love to have a beer with most of all.
"Our conversation drifted to what a beer brand with Bob Hawke might look like, which for us was less about the notion that 'Bob loves a beer' and more about the values he embodies like giving back to community and looking after your mates," Lennon said.
Amen to that. Also, he does really love a beer though, doesn't he?
The frothy, golden good stuff will launch in 11 pubs from April 6 and cans will be sold in stores from April 25. Hmm, beer.
