Dryden Vos is auto eroticism asphyxiationa crime boss, and also the name of Paul Bettany's character in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
He didn't pop up in the movie's Super Bowl tease, or in the first full trailer that followed a day later. But we now know what his character is called, by way of a Solocover story in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.
SEE ALSO: Every Star Wars movie and TV show in development right nowBettany playing a Star Warscrime boss fits with what he's previously said about the movie. He told Total Filmlast April (via The Playlist) that Solois a "gangster movie" and Han's story is a "caper." We learn in the new EWstory that the monorail thing glimpsed in the first trailer -- called a Conveyex -- contains something valuable that Han is sent to swipe.
Maybe he's taking his orders from Dryden Vos? We've known of the character's existence in Solosince last year, when fan site Making Star Wars noted he'd be a "major cast member." It wasn't connected to Bettany at that point, but the "Vos" surname does have broader implications in the Star Warsuniverse.
Quinlan Vos is a prequel-era character. He was little more than a background character in the Prequel Trilogy, but he took on a more central role in the Clone Warsanimated series as a shadowy operative and Jedi Master who attempted to assassinate Count Dooku and unmask Darth Sidious.
It's fun to speculate, but Star Warsmovies don't often do the heavy lifting on connecting canonical dots like these. If Quinlan and Dryden do have some kind of connection, that's more likely to be explored in books, comics, or some other medium.
