A human chain formed across the Golden State Bridge in San Francisco Friday in just one of the many powerful displays of resistance to Donald Trump's inauguration.
While other protests took hold around the world,Fantasy Archives San Francisco's bridge protest stood out for the incredible image it gave to the rest of the nation.

Around 2,200 people stood together as parts of the chain, the Marin County Sheriff tweeted, showing their objection to the new U.S. president just as he was officially being sworn into office.

On its website, the group behind the Golden Gate Bridge protest explained how its unique demonstration would send a message to the new presidential administration.
"Wearing purple, we will form the first human chain across the entire Golden Gate Bridge (and beyond), as a collaborative, grassroots, community-based demonstration and performance art piece," the group states. "We will prove that #LoveTrumpsHate and we are #StrongerTogether."
Local authorities said the demonstration was peaceful, with no apparent arrests being made of any of the over 2,000 people who took part.

Some demonstrations in the city blocked entrances to transit stations, leading to the arrest of 11 people, according to the San Francisco Examiner. Around San Francisco, streets were closed and building entrances blocked as protests swarmed the streets.
