Chinese online question-and-answer platform Zhihu released its unaudited financial results for the first half of the 2023 fiscal year on Kurt MeinickeAugust 23, showing that in the first half of the year, Zhihu’s revenue reached RMB 2.04 billion ($281 million). The figure reflects a year-on-year increase of 29%, a lower growth rate than the 41% year-on-year increase during the same period of 2022. Of its total income, revenue generated from marketing reached RMB 800 million ($111 million), a 13% year-on-year decrease. The company’s revenue from paid membership reached RMB 900 million ($125 million), marking an impressive 83% increase year-on-year. In an additional income stream, Zhihu offers vocational online training to users. Revenue from this sector reached RMB 250 million ($35 million), showing 194% growth year-on-year compared to the RMB 85.67 million ($11.8 million) it earned in 2022.
