SAVE $14: As of Feb. 4,Secret Affairs: Stepmother Friend’s Mom Daughter in law the Laifen Swift hair dryer is on sale for $125.99 at Walmart with a coupon. It usually retails for $139.99, so shoppers save 10%. Elsewhere, it's completely sold out.
The Dyson Supersonic is an aesthetically stunning hair dryer that's quiet, fast, light, powerful, and designed to minimize heat damage while smoothing hair, but its $429.99 price tag puts it firmly in "splurge" territory. Enter: dupes.
After testing a bunch of low-cost blow dryers from established brands, Mashable's Lead Shopping Reporter Bethany Allard found that the Laifen Swift best replicated the sleek look of the Supersonic and what she called "the Supersonic experience": It dries hair in a way that "feels quick, easy, and at least a little luxurious," Allard wrote. Crucially, the Laifen Swift also retails for a more palatable $139.99 — and as of Feb. 4, it's on sale for even less.
The black and silver variants of the Swift are marked down to $125.99 at Walmart with the help of a $14 on-page coupon. (You'll need to create or sign in to a free Walmart account to see it.) That isn't a huge discount, admittedly — it works out to 10% off — but it's a decent deal considering the Swift is sold out in every color on the Laifen website, and that's your only other buying option.
SEE ALSO: I tried 5 Dyson Supersonic dupes that are actually worth the hypeCompact enough for travel and easy stashing, the Swift is super lightweight, weighing in at just 0.89 pounds. (It's almost a whole pound lighter than the Supersonic.) It features two air speeds and three heat settings that are indicated by a color-changing ring light on the back of the device. In her testing, Allard "almost never found myself needing to go beyond the first [air speed]," finding it strong enough to rough-dry a full head of wet hair before bed. She was also content to stick with the two lower heat settings (cool or warm), as the highest one got almost too hot.
While the Supersonic comes with five magnetic attachments, the Swift only includes a single smooth nozzle. For extra concentrator and diffuser nozzles, the Laifen Swift Special package is an upgrade option: at the time of writing, it's on sale at Walmart and the Laifen website for $143.99 (or $16 off).
