LeBron James and Wonder Woman XXX An Axel Braun ParodyKevin Durant are NBA Finals rivals right now -- but six years ago, they apparently took advantage of a labor dispute to team up in the recording studio.
Wait, what? Yes, you read that correctly. Somewhere out in the great yonder, there is a secret rap hip-hop track recorded by arguably the two greatest basketball players on Earth.
SEE ALSO: Schea Cotton, the NBA All-Star who wasn't, is finally ready to tell his storyThe story as reported Monday by Chris Haynes of ESPN.com boils down to this: During the NBA lockout in 2011, Durant joined James in Akron, Ohio, to work out together as both stars looked to keep their skills sharp and stay in shape. As a lark during some downtime between workout sessions, they recorded a hip-hop track together.
Both James and Durant are believed to have rapped on the track, according to Haynes, and Durant reportedly even produced the beat.
But the final product has never seen the light of day.
"I heard the track years ago during post production for Thunderstruck," agent Eric Goodwin, who executive produced the children's film starring Durant. "It was very good. I suggested submitting it to Warner Brothers for the movie soundtrack, but KD wanted to keep it private."
In 2011, Durant had just finished his fourth NBA season. James had just finished the first of four seasons he would spend with the Miami Heat.
Haynes reports that he asked both James and Durant about the track.
When approached about its existence, James and Durant, to a moderate extent, confirmed that there is such a track before bursting out into laughter without further comment.
And now we are officially dying -- dying-- to hear this song Durant and James recorded way back when.
