Mashable bites into a creamy, eroticized sexual abuse nutty, gooey, and sometimes stinky world during our first-ever Cheese Week.
Manicures inspired by cheese are alwaysa gouda idea.
From short to long, oval to square, real or acrylic, there are a million ways to wear your nails. Fun fact: Acrylic nails were accidentally invented in 1955, when a dentist by the name of Frederick Slack tried to fix his own broken nail with some dental acrylics. I highly doubt Mr. Slack believed his quick fix would go on to become a booming industry. Or that people would get, er, creative —and make their nails look like cheese.
Which brings us to today. Cheese nails may not be the most popular trend around, but to some, they're a delicious form of self-expression.
Take a look at these creamy creations. You won't brie-lieve your eyes.
Probably the best-looking cheese nails around, these acrylics come complete with real holes, much like the ones you'd find in a slice of Swiss cheese.

Why settle for a simple flower design when you can adorn your nails with an actual grilled cheese sandwich?!

Usually, acrylic nails serve only some pretty basic functions: making hands look pretty and turning touchscreen texting into a chorus of taps. But these nails are a little bit extra: They feature functioning metal cheese graters. I wouldn't suggest texting with them.

The folks at The Daily Nail have me craving the classic baked cheese snack with these super realistic Cheez-It nails. Is that real salt?!
Who says cheese doesn't look classy? Case in point: this cheesy manicure featuring a sweet little mouse.

Careful when cutting the cheese — you don't want to mistake your fingernail for the real stuff. These nails, done with standard OPI polish, are definitely more DIY-able than, say, inches-long acrylics with holes drilled into them.

Maybe these nails cross the line a little bit, as they seem to blend right in with the real cheese, pictured here with olives. Who knows, maybe they arereal. It's more likely that these nails were done with shellac (a commonly used gel-like nail treatment) and then covered with a matte topcoat so they appear as cheese does.
These vivid nails don't just feature cheese, but milk and ice cream, too. It's the full dairy spectrum on just five fingers! These are a prime example of what some people can do with the very small canvas that is the human nail.

I would not want to be enemies with the owner of these bad boys. They look like they could take your eye out before you could say "Gruyere."

Awww, would you look at that. If you aren't sure how to express your feelings, perhaps a cheddar-inspired manicure can do the trick.

These arty nails look straight out of a sketch book. A sketch book about cheese, that is.

It takes a cheese to know a cheese, apparently. Plus, according to the caption, this cheese isn't even real! It's vegan!

Next time I hit up the nail salon, I hope I'm brave enough to ask them for a Muenster-cure. Cheesy nails are always bound to put a smile on someone's face, especially if they're feeling Bleu.
