Sick of apps tracking your every move?Chris Cassidy Archives Apple's highly anticipated iOS 11 will hopefully give you some much needed peace of mind.
At the company's WWDC keynote on Monday, Tim Cook and team showed off a trove of new and updated devices, and gave the world a sneak peek at the wonders of its new mobile operating system iOS 11.
Fortunately for privacy conscious users, a new feature, spotted in the iOS 11 developer preview, appears to give users the ability to control location access for allapps (including Uber, which previously gathered users' location data even after a ride had ended and they were no longer using the app).
SEE ALSO: Uber can now track you after a ride and some people are creeped outWith iOS 11, users simply go to the Privacy tab in the Settings app and click on "Location Services" to manage how often location access will be allowed for location centric apps like Uber.
It appears as though users can now select location access be turned on "Never," "Always," or only "While Using The App."

Currently, in iOS 10.3.2, users do not have the option to allow location access in Uber only while using the app — an issue that has caused a lot of controversy in the past.
Pre-iOS 11, if users wanted to ensure Uber was not tracking their location, they would have to manually switch to "Never" after closing the app. Otherwise, the location services would remain running in the background, a feature deemed "creepy" by so many people that a Twitter moment was created.
According to a screengrab by Joe Duvall, in iOS 11, the Uber app provides a disclaimer alerting users that if they select the "While Using the App" option, some features may not work while the app is running in the background, but hey, at least they get more privacy and hopefully save some battery life, too.
Though a few lucky developers have access to the update, the official public beta for iOS won't be available for a few more weeks. In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the other awesome iOS 11 features, including storage saving suggestions — phew!
