Via GiphyDuring CNN's live New Year's Eve broadcast on Sunday, co-hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper had an opportunity to talk to Kidman and her husband Keith Urban about absolutely anything, and Cohen decided to bring up Kidman's weird clap that everyone forgot about 10 months ago.
Kidman gave the question — "Did you ever expect that that would become such a thing?" — a very appropriate response: "I wish that there were more important things to be concerned about, or that people were focused on more important things than that sort of clapping."

Cooper, after hearing Kidman's shady-ass response, looked at Cohen and said, "I agree with that."
What makes Cohen's question even worse is that fact that Kidman has already explained why she clapped like that at the Oscars: She was wearing a gigantic ring on her right hand that she didn't want to damage. Makes sense!

You can see the big ring in the above gif, which appears to swing around and face inward when she claps, and we don't blame her for not wanting to slam her hand into that big hunk of jewelry repeatedly.
Next question.
