Samsung's latest foldable phone,I Am a Plaything the Galaxy Z Flip, comes in some really cool colors, including mirror black, mirror gold, and mirror purple. But if those aren't fancy enough for you, maybe the $2,480 Thom Browne edition will suffice.
That price is not a typo.
The Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung's latest foldable phone. It comes in a clamshell form factor that opens up to reveal a foldable glass display.
In addition to making the standard Z Flip, Samsung has partnered with American fashion designer Thom Browne to create a limited-edition version. It's got all the same hardware and specs as the standard models. But it comes with a completely different aesthetic.
So, what is it that you get for $2,480?
A Galaxy Z Flip with a design that's modeled after a... suit. A Thom Brownesuit, that is. The $1,490 sport coat features the same stripes as the phone.
The phone also comes with a pebbled leather case to protect the glass exterior, and a few additional accessories, including a Galaxy Watch Active2 (with two wrist straps) and a pair Galaxy Buds — all of which have the same striped accent as the Z Flip.
I'm a huge fan of the reflective Z Flip colors, so this design doesn't do much for me. I also saw someone on Twitter compare it to a tube of Aquafresh toothpaste and, like, they're not wrong.
This edition is also clearly for a specific "type," of person. Sort of like, a "business man who wants to be taken seriously" type. Can you imagine the horror that might ensue if he takes out a flashy gold or purple phone at a meeting instead of this designer one?
It doesn't end there.
The phone comes loaded with app icons in classic text and different sound cues, like a typewriter sound for the keyboard (not annoying at all), a shoe tap on a marble floor (not weird at all), and a variety of different wallpaper.
Purchasing the standard models of all three of these devices separately would cost you around $1,758. So, you'll be paying about $722 more for the Thom Browne edition.
It also comes in a fancy box that you can use as a decorative piece for your fancy desk, if you're trying to really justify this purchase.
You can buy the Thom Browne Galaxy Z Flip starting February 14 via Samsung or on the designer's official site.
